The area of medicine known as neurology is concerned with the analysis and therapy of problems of the neurological system. The central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system together make up the nervous system. The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system, whilst the rest of the nerves and sense organs’ sensory receptors make up the peripheral nervous system (such as the eyes, ears, skin etc.).

A neurosurgeon is a surgeon who performs surgery connected to neurology, whereas a neurologist is a doctor who specialises in neurology.
